Enigma Junkie
20 years ago, during the summer of 1990, I just happened to turn on the radio. Not thinking anything of it, I stopped at a channel for no apparent reason. Out came the most wonderful music my ears had ever heard. The first few seconds took me away. At 14, that's saying something. It was called 'Sadeness'. I wondered who had masterminded this ethereal and haunting sound; the chanting monks and the erotic breathing and even words I didn't understand at the time. After the song had finished playing, the radio DJ said that the song was from the new album, 'Enigma MCMXC a.D.' I knew then there would be no music like it and it would become my all time favorite. 20 years later, I'm still the biggest Enigma junkie around, having told my friends that if they bottled Enigma, I put it in my veins. Why drugs, when I could get my high off Enigma music? Being an author and poet, I tried my hand at song writing and in 2008, I had a contract for my very first song. But I was geared more for writing New Age. So, on May 5, 2009, I wrote a song called "Eternal" with Enigma/Michael Cretu in mind. And what a surprise when I found out that Michael Cretu is working on his 8th album and including a fan's work in it. I can't sing, but I desperately wanted to get my lyrics to Mr. Cretu. I found the perfect singer with the ethereal quality I was looking for by the name of Emily Jones. Little did I know, she was a professional. She agreed to sing my lyrics and I am so excited to see the song posted on Youtube with Enigma Social Song. I'm asking for your votes because there is only 3 days left. Go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rLQ-izZLdQ. Of course, there are some shady people who have been voting down for the purpose of messing with the singers. Michael is only counting the 'ups'. Let me know what you think of "Eternal". Let me know what YOU think of Enigma on my blog. I'll look forward to hearing from other Enigma Junkies.
